I miss…
thumbnail
This move to Texas has been tough. But I'm sure you already know that, if you talk to me at all. I mention it once every 30 seconds or so. There are days when things are peachy-keen. But sometimes there are days like today. Days when I feel like there's a hole where something important used to sit. And that hole feels different on different days. Some days I miss ...

Bu-bye, 2012!
thumbnail
It's now January 9, 2013. I don't think I've posted since December 14th. Lots going on. We drove to Florida and spent an amazing week with my parents and my siblings and their families. Buddy and I got nasty colds. Buddy didn't sleep while we were in Florida. We left two weeks early due to sickness, weather, and lack of sleep. I thank God for the chance to see my ...

Rainy Day
thumbnail
The weather in Texas seems to be the polar opposite of Vermont. Sunny, hot, humid. We've definitely needed to adjust. Some days I feel like we're doing well with the adjustments, and other days when I'm sweating half my body weight off I wonder if we'll ever adjust. This week, however, has been such a blessing! It's been cooler, like in the 70s and 80s. Yesterday we had a true rainy ...

Adjustments
thumbnail
Posting around here has been fairly frequent, but the post I want to write most sits in my mind and on my heart. I'm not sure I can even write it accurately. My emotions are jumbled; my mind is racing. It's hard to clearly write what I'm thinking in this state of mind. I've been in Texas for almost two months. I left Vermont 3 months ago. Sometimes it seems ...

It’s Official!

We're Texans.   But we're leaving the Vermont license plate holder on just for kicks. This means several things: I have to drive better...no more sudden turns when I realize I'm going the wrong way. People won't stare at me when I get in and out of my car. Vermont isn't really a license plate you see every day. I really do live in Texas. There's no denying it now. But until I get my license ...

Cattle
thumbnail
Two Saturdays ago we took my mother-in-law to a cattle drive. I mean, we live in Texas now. Isn't that the kind of thing you do here? I braved the heat and tried my best to enjoy summer in this new climate! Look at those horns! There they go! The kids really enjoyed watching the big cows go by. Even Buddy just stopped and watched. The whole thing was a lot shorter than I ...

Far Away from Home
thumbnail
Well, no, not home. Texas is my home. But New England is my HOME. Get it? Anyway, today I've been feeling so very far away! I miss the gorgeous summer weather where you spend every possible minute outside. I miss meeting friends at the pool. I miss cookouts. I miss late night creemee trips. I miss long walks in the evening, or the morning or afternoon. I've had a rough day. ...

Total Randomness
thumbnail
All morning I've been saying, "Oh, that would be a good blog post." Now it's quiet time in our house and I can't remember one thing I was going to write about. Doesn't that figure? So, I'm gonna write my randoms and go from there. * I went running yesterday morning! Not really a big deal, except that I ran outside, in July, in Texas! I figured I wouldn't run outside ...

I’m Still Here
thumbnail
Sorry I haven't posted lately. There's so much going on, but yet there's nothing going on. I'm struggling with the adjustments. Sheesh! It's hot here! The kids want to go outside. I want to go outside. I want to sit outside and listen to cicadas at night, but it's just too hot! I am getting used to it, but it's been an adjustment. I know that in November I'm gonna ...

Trip to TX
thumbnail
Sometimes traveling with children can be, well, EXHAUSTING! I remember FBK (Flying Before Kids). :)  I loved it! I'd bring a book or magazines. I'd book the window seat so I could watch the world go by and pick out various landmarks. Then I flew with kids. Even when they sleep it's hard. I can't just pull out a book because they might wake up. Magazines are hard to read ...
