I’ve been so bad about keeping up with this blog lately. We’ve been busy. Life is happening. Truthfully, I’m happy about that. When we moved here the kids and I would go to Walmart or Target just so we had somewhere to go. Now we’re actually making plans, meeting people, and getting out. Here’s some of what’s going on:
* We’ve found a church! It’s definitely not what we planned on finding, but we’re enjoying it. We’re already in a home group and have met some wonderful people there. It’s small, much smaller than we thought we’d be in, but we like it. Visiting a new church every Sunday got to be too much, new people, new nurseries. We needed to find a church home, and I think we have!
* I’ve made some good friends who have kids the same ages as my kids. Today we went to the museum with a girl who has a son just a few months older than Buddy and a daughter one month younger than Baby Girl. Perfect! Saturday we went to dinner with some new friends; their oldest daughter is about 1 1/2 years older than Baby Girl, but they get along so well! (My friend is from Michigan, so I have a northern connection!) Both of these friendships came at just the right time for me.
* The weather has cooled down some. Today the high will be in the low 80s. I wore jeans Saturday for the first time since June 19th when we flew down here! I definitely did a happy dance!
Some days are still extremely hard. I miss New England. I miss fall. There are days when I get so discouraged that I just want to lay in bed all day. But I feel like we’ll make it. Don’t get me wrong; I am not a Texan yet. That will take some time, I think, but we’re putting down some roots. Right now they’re small and don’t go very deep, but we’re getting there. Every new friendship and new experience strengthens the roots just a little more.
This weekend I will be basking in fall all by myself. I am so nervous about being by myself for a weekend, but I hope it will be relaxing and allow me to come back ready to jump back into life. I can’t wait to share my adventure with you!

So glad you’re starting to feel at home! Slowly but surely, friend.
Enjoy your weekend!
