I’ve been buying snacks for Baby Girl to take to preschool. Usually it’s crackers and fruit or cheese and fruit snacks. She really likes Nutri-Grain bars. I started thinking about what exactly was inside of them and decided to see if I could make my own. I found a recipe that looked easy and delicious.
Baby Girl doesn’t like the store-bought strawberry bars, but I decided to try those first. I want to try an apple-cinnamon variety at some point. These really were very easy to make, and my man loves them! Baby Girl isn’t a huge fan, so even more reason to try the apple-cinnamon ones soon.
Start with butter, two kinds of flour, brown sugar, oats, and vanilla. Then you get to mix it with your hands. Baby Girl loved this part!
Press it down into a 9×13 pan with aluminum foil sprayed with PAM. The mixture really smelled like a Nutri-Grain bar at this point, so I felt confident!
Then spread the jam on top of this layer. I forgot to take a picture, but I did want to remember what kind of jam I got.
I was going to get sugar-free, but having a little sugar in it seemed safer taste-wise.
Sprinkle the rest of the crust on top and press it down gently. Then bake it for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. It said to let them cool before cutting them. I cut them when they were a little warm. It was a little gooey, but my man said they were amazing!
I’m definitely going to make these again! I’m trying to figure out how to store them so that we can take them on the go. They are kind of messy, but maybe that’s because they were just made? I’ll let you know if I figure out any other fillings for them.
