The Joys of Having a Daughter

April29

I knew it would come, but I didn’t expect it this soon. I knew that eventually Baby Girl and I would get to do fun girl things together. It happened this morning and it was even more fun than I anticipated!
Last night my man asked me if I was going to watch the wedding. I told him I would if I was awake. Wouldn’t you know that Baby Girl woke up at 4 am!!! After trying to get her to sleep for a while we got up to watch the royal wedding. I thought, “she’s gonna hate this; she will be so bored.” She LOVED it all! She talked about the princess, the princess’ mama, the little girls, the singing, everything. She asked what people were doing. We talked about their hats. I couldn’t get over how much she seemed to enjoy it. At one point she fell asleep. I picked her up to put her in her bed. She kind of stirred and said, “No, mama.” She wanted to sleep on the couch with the wedding on.
At one point, I sat there cuddled up with my Baby Girl and realized how much fun it will be to have a daughter. When I found out she was a girl I cried. I thought we would have boys. It sounded easier. (Now I’m wondering what I’ll do with a boy.) But I wouldn’t trade my girl for anything. Three years ago I hated pink; today I am drawn to all things pink. Funny what a daughter will do to you!
I took pictures of us on the couch. I enjoyed every moment. And I dreamed of all the fun girl things we will do as she gets older. I can’t wait!

:) It is pretty awesome to have that mommy daughter bond, and equally as awesome to have the mommy son bond. totally different but equally as awesome!
Nice seeing you this morning, and I am glad you watched the royal wedding! ;)

Oh I’m so like that. I didn’t watch the wedding but I’m so excited to do girly stuff like that w/ Shaylin. She’s already into babydolls, necklaces, & purses!

I thought about that this morning as I was watching the Royal Wedding and Matthan was not interested at all! My baby girl was just too young this year … maybe when Harry gets married we’ll enjoy it together! :)

[...] April: We closed on our first home. Kind of bittersweet. It was my man’s birthday. Then Baby Girl and I headed to CT to relax. We drove home the Saturday before Easter (which was the end of April), and it was snowing! Crazy winter weather-wise! Oh, and Baby Girl woke me up at 4am to watch the royal wedding. [...]
